Counter Stake has been a long-standing program of Matic. Running an incentivized testnet program is no easy feat but we have accomplished a lot since we started Counter Stake, precisely Stage 0.
Today, we’re glad to announce that we have completed all the tests that we aimed for on our current testnet, CS-2008. And with that, we have come to the conclusion of running our testnet program - i.e. Counter Stake Stages 0, 1, and 2.
We have accomplished onboarding 122 validators on the current testnet which is a record for all our testnets. We have received over 1000+ entries for all the stages of our Testnet program. We hope that we have given everyone an opportunity to run a node.
We are very thankful for all the people that have participated in the past and are currently running their nodes on CS-2008. You all have helped us achieve so much. It is through your feedback and suggestions that we’re able to successfully launch our mainnet recently and to top it over, we even started delegation on the foundation nodes. This has all happened because we tested this over the period of Counter Stake with you guys and your help.
Tonight we will be shutting down our nodes for CS-2008 and will be retiring the network. You guys can start shutting down your nodes too. This brings us to the end of our Counter Stake Program.
Regarding the rewards, we will be disclosing a list by next week. Once the list is final with all information required we will distribute the rewards then.
More importantly, we are keeping the Counter Stake channels active. This is because we want to continue having a discussion forum with you guys but also help you to become a validator on the final mainnet if you choose to when we start external validator onboarding in Phase 2 and 3 of the Matic mainnet rollout. It only makes sense to!
We would also like to extend our thanks to Virge, Shai, and OkeSip for helping fellow members with resolving their issues. Thanks a lot for filling in.
Thanks again, everyone! We will continue to keep engaging on our Discord channels with various updates regarding Mainnet.
